When I tried to install the profile flag plugin for cb an error came up saying:

SQL Error DB function failed with error number 1054
Unknown column 'cb_state' in 'where clause' SQL=UPDATE `jos_comprofiler` SET `cb_state` = 'None' WHERE `cb_state` IS NULL;
SQL =

UPDATE `jos_comprofiler` SET `cb_state` = 'None' WHERE `cb_state` IS NULL;

I thought this was because of that sql error people were having trouble with before so I tried the sql query fix, but it didn't seem to work.

This one seems pretty simple to me. You didn't define the cb_state field prior to installation as per the instructions. There is no other explanation for this symptom. You need to define both a country and state field for the installation to work whether you plan to use them or not. This is stated in the instructions.
